Tape Slit to Your Width: See the Price Before You Ask
Pick a tesa tape, the log it is cut from and the width you need, from 6 mm up. The calculator returns how many rolls that log gives, the slitting charge, the price of the whole slit log and the price per roll — at our own selling prices, ex VAT.
409 tesa products, 941 log sizes. If the width you need is not on the shelf, this is how it gets made.
How a width that is not stocked gets made
Tape is made as wide logs and cut down to width. If the width you need is not one tesa lists, it is cut from a log to order: we order the log, slit the whole of it to your width, and you take every roll it gives. That is why the price is per log — the material is the log, and slitting it narrower gives you more rolls from the same money.
Guidance only. Prices from this tool are indicative and are not a quotation. They are based on tesa’s published log sizes, Austen’s current selling prices ex VAT, and the figures you supply. They are not a guarantee of performance in your application. You must decide whether a product is suitable for your intended use: test a sample under your own conditions and check the tesa product information sheet. How the price is built
- The log. Our selling price for that log, ex VAT.
- Slitting. £2.50 a finished roll, with a minimum charge of £50.00 a log. Up to 20 rolls, the minimum applies.
- Edge trim. 25 mm comes off each edge before the first cut, which is what tesa tells us to allow. A 1372 mm log has 1322 mm to cut from.
- The roll count is a minimum. The number of finished rolls may differ — the cost covers the whole log of material either way.
- Delivery. £15.00 under £350 net, free at £350 and over. UK only — we do not export.
Worked example: one log of tesa 4970, cut eight ways
tesa® 4970 is a 225 micron double-sided film tape. This is one 1372 mm × 50 m log, priced at £932.57, slit to eight different widths:
| Width | Rolls | Slitting | Slit log | Per roll |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6 mm | 220 | £550.00 | £1,482.57 | £6.74 |
| 9 mm | 146 | £365.00 | £1,297.57 | £8.89 |
| 12 mm | 110 | £275.00 | £1,207.57 | £10.98 |
| 19 mm | 69 | £172.50 | £1,105.07 | £16.02 |
| 25 mm | 52 | £130.00 | £1,062.57 | £20.43 |
| 50 mm | 26 | £65.00 | £997.57 | £38.37 |
| 100 mm | 13 | £50.00 | £982.57 | £75.58 |
| 300 mm | 4 | £50.00 | £982.57 | £245.64 |
At 25 mm the log gives 52 rolls and the slitting is £130.00, so each roll costs £20.43. At 300 mm it gives 4, the £50.00 minimum applies, and the slit log is £982.57. The narrower the width, the more rolls and the lower the price of each — the log itself costs the same whatever you cut it to.
Thick foam tapes: from 12 mm, or ask first
ACXplus and the thicker foam tapes are harder to slit narrow. On these the calculator prices from 12 mm; below that it sends you to the trade desk, so our slitter can check the job before anyone quotes it.
tesa® ACXplus 7808, one 1260 mm × 25 m log at 12 mm: 100 rolls, slitting £250.00, £925.15 for the slit log, £9.25 a roll. Ask for 10 mm and the calculator will not price it — it hands you to the trade desk instead. The same applies to tesa® ACXplus 77808 and every other ACXplus grade.
What the calculator will not price
- Anything under 6 mm. That is the narrowest width we cut, on every tape.
- ACXplus and thick foam tapes under 12 mm. Ask the trade desk.
- Logs too narrow for the trim. A 50 mm log loses 50 mm to the edges and has nothing left to cut.
- Imperial widths are rounded, not refused. Ask for ¾ inch and it is quoted at 19 mm, and the quote says so.
Common questions
What is the minimum order?
One log. The price is for the whole log slit to your width, and you take every roll it gives.
Can I have shorter rolls?
Yes — we can rewind to a shorter length. You still take the whole log’s yield.
How long does it take?
We do not hold logs in stock. We order the log from tesa, and slitting takes about a week once it arrives. Tell us your date on the quote request.
Is the calculator price a quotation?
No. It is indicative: our current selling price for the log plus our slitting charge, worked out for you. The trade desk confirms the price when you send the request.
Can I get a Certificate of Conformity?
Yes. Tick the box in the calculator and we request it from tesa with the log.
